The UAE has activated a multi-agency chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) preparedness and response framework in light of escalating regional tensions and the recent U.S.-led strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
This framework includes integrated radiological monitoring, medical countermeasure stockpiling, interagency response coordination, and procurement of next-generation detection and decontamination systems.
The note provides an overview of the following areas:
- National coordination and task force leadership under the UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI)
- Operational readiness and sensor deployment
- Strategic procurement of advanced CBRN defense systems
- International cooperation through EU and NATO-aligned partnerships
- Early warning integration with national air defense and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets
