Iran: SNSC discusses Strait of Hormuz, IRGC’s approach to responding to U.S. strikesnote

The U.S. launched on 22/6/2025 a military operation dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer” targeting Iran’s key nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

In response, Iran's parliament reportedly approved blocking the Strait of Hormuz. The final decision now rests with the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

A few days before the U.S. attacks, the SNSC held a meeting.

The meeting concluded with several military and security decisions, including scenarios for responding to U.S. attacks.

The note provides an overview of the following aspects:

- The SNSC’s meeting outcome regarding the military confrontation with Israel

- The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)’s approach to responding to U.S. attacks

- Iran’s means to block the Strait of Hormuz
