Qatar prepared to support Turkey’s Istanbul canal projectnote

Qatari Emir Tamim held a telephone conversation last Monday (5/4/21) with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

This came concurrently with the arrest of 10 retired Turkish admirals for openly criticizing Turkey’s Istanbul canal project, which would link the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara.

In this context, Emir Tamim is said to have promised President Erdogan that Qatar is prepared to support the canal project.
