Qatar, Italy armament relations: Cooperation on industry of land systemsnote

Chief of Staff of the Italian Army General Salvatore Farina visited Qatar on Sunday 24/1/2021, where he met with his Qatari counterpart Lt-General Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khaled Al-Attiyah and Commander of the Qatar Land Forces (QLF) Major-General Saeed Hussain Al-Khayarin.

There is talk that the visit came as part of the Italian Ministry of Defense’s efforts to expand its armament relations with Qatar, to include joint military production projects in favor of the Qatari Land Forces (QLF).

Italy is said to be looking to cooperate with Qatari defense company Barzan Holdings in this regard.
