There is talk that the UAE plan in Aden was to remove pro-Saudi Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi from office and designate Ahmad Saleh, son of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, as an Interim President in his place.
The UAE plan is said to have got the approval of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
