Saudi Arabia: A new balance of powernote

With King Fahd still in hospital in a critical condition, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seems effectively to have entered a phase of transition of power. Consequently, the Salafi extremist threat seems to be prompting the members of the ruling Al Saud family to put aside their differences and close ranks behind Crown Prince Abdullah, who continues to act as de facto ruler pending his accession to the throne.
