ExxonMobil shows interest in Iraq's refineriesnote

An Oil Ministry source says ExxonMobil will provide the Ministry with consulting services about projects to rehabilitate the eight refineries in Iraq. The source adds ExxonMobil has also expressed readiness to take part in projects to build two refineries in southern Iraq, one in Nassiriya and the other in Hindiya. Meanwhile, pro-US Iraqi sources claim the US Department of Energy (DoE) is also prepared to help the Ministry rehabilitate the largest three refineries in Iraq: Baiji, Basra and Dura. The DoE has already drawn up a timetable with the Ministry to begin rehabilitation works early next year.
