During his visit to Doha earlier this week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar regarding the expansion and renovation of the Al-Udeid air base.
The base hosts the forward headquarters of the US Army Central Command (CENTCOM) and houses the Qatari Air Force (QAF), US Air Force (USAF) and the British Royal Air Force (RAF).
There has been work in the past months with the Pentagon and the US CENTCOM command on the plans which the Qatari Defence Ministry is proposing to expand the base.
