Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khaled Al-Atiyyah is said to be showing interest in the Saab 2000 Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system. This comes within the context of a plan to reinforce permanent surveillance of the Qatari airspace and maritime border in the coming years.
