Pentagon’s commitment to improve Saudi defensesnote

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz received a telephone call yesterday (18/2/21) from US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

The Pentagon stated that Austin sought to reaffirm the “strategic defense partnership” between the two countries.

This comes after White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last Tuesday (16/2/21) that the United States has decided to “recalibrate” relations with Saudi Arabia.

In this regard, Austin is said to have reiterated the United States' commitment to provide needed defensive capabilities to the Kingdom.
