UAE’s plans to increase renewable energy capacity will include the progressive rolling out of new solar plants over the next decade.
The most immediate prospect for international investment is the Emirates Water and Electricity Co. (EWEC) project for a 1.5 gigawatt (GW) plant in the Al Ajban region in the northern side of the Emirate.
Several companies, including the French oil and gas company TotalEnergies and the Italian oil and gas company Eni are said to be expressing interest in the project.
