Kuwait: Acquittal order effect amid transfer of powernote

A Kuwaiti court acquitted on Tuesday (8/3/2022) former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al Sabah and former Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al Sabah and their co-defendants of the corruption charges they faced concerning the embezzlement of $790 million, that had gone missing from a military aid fund years ago. The acquittal order is not subject to appeal.

The acquittal is reported to have raised questions regarding the ability of Kuwaiti Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad and Crown Prince and Head of Kuwait’s National Security Council Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad to maintain the hard-won stability,

This comes as Crown Prince Meshaal seeks to prioritize his relations with the Al Sabah family branches before looking into the transfer of power to him.

Tactical Report has prepared a 418-word report to shed more light on the subject.
