Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi plans to visit Qatar on Monday (21/2/2022), his first foreign trip to a Gulf country since he assumed office in August last year.
President Raisi will be attending the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Doha, after receiving an official invitation from Qatari Emir Tamim.
Emir Tamim and President Raisi are said to be holding a meeting to discuss issues of interest to both countries, and how to jointly address them.
Those issues are reported to be directly related to Emir Tamim's mediating role between Iran and each of Saudi Arabia (on the war in Yemen) and the USA (on the Iranian nuclear deal).
