After the rapid deterioration of the situation in Yemen, the UAE and Iran have accelerated diplomatic activities to ease the tension between the Emiratis and the Houthis.
Sheikh Abdullah received a telephone call from his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday (3/2/2022).
Intensive contacts are reported to have taken place between Emirati National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani.
Amir-Abdollahian and Shamkhani are reported to have expressed Tehran’s readiness to intervene, to defuse the situation in Yemen, but on conditions.
The UAE is said to have submitted its own terms and conditions in return.
