Saudi Arabia’s military cooperation with Ukraine is under threat due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Over the past years, Riyadh has cultivated a fruitful relationship with Ukrainian defense companies for obtaining military technology and localized production. Some of Riyadh’s Ukrainian partners are Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, Pavlograd Chemical Plant, State Design Bureau “Luch”, NVK Iskra, Proximus and others.
The most important Saudi-Ukrainian projects include the Hrim ballistic missiles, An-132 cargo aircraft, Vilkha-M multiple rocket launchers (MLRS), Bukovel electronic warfare (EW) system, 90K63 air defense radar, and more.
Our 1,395-word special report revisits these projects and, thanks to our sources, provides an extensive update on their status in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Our report also provides a political and financial assessment of how the war will impact the Saudi defense industry.
