GCC concerns about U.S. plan to counter threats in Gulf watersnote

U.S. Central Command in the Middle East (CENTCOM) Commander Lieutenant General Michael Corella said that a U.S.-led task force would deploy over 100 unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Gulf region’s strategic waters by next year to stave off maritime threats.

The U.S. decision is said to have raised several questions and concerns among GCC military commanders.

The Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces General Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili, and the Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Admiral Fahd Al-Ghufaili are reported to have discussed these concerns with Lieutenant General Corella.

What are these concerns?

What is the GCC countries’ plan to overcome them?

What did Saudi Arabia suggest to counter maritime threats?

To answer these questions and more, Tactical Report has prepared a 396-word report.
