On 21/8/2022, the UAE announced that its ambassador to Iran Said Mohammad Al-Zaabi will be returning to Tehran.
After the completion of the preparations for his return, Al-Zaabi returned to Tehran on 13/9/2022 and met with the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
This rapprochement came after UAE-Iran relations were scaled down for the past six years, since the UAE closed its embassy in Tehran in 2016 as an act of solidarity with Saudi Arabia after Iranian protestors attacked the Kingdom’s diplomatic missions in Iran.
The Iranians and Emiratis have been working on improving ties over the last few months to secure their common political and economic interests.
Tactical Report has prepared a 1737-word (6 pages) report to shed more light on the state and future of Iran-UAE relations, in light of their ever growing economical and trade relations, amid the risk factors of the Yemen War and the Emirati normalization of ties with Israel.
