Iraq set on diversifying arms suppliersnote

Last month (26/7/21), Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi met with US President Joe Biden in Washington. During the meeting, President Biden confirmed that the United States will end its combat mission in Iraq by the end of 2021, adding that US military experts will remain in Iraq to train and assist the Iraqi Army.

This has led Iraqi military and security officials to believe that the Iraqi Ministry of Defense will prioritize cooperation with US defense companies following the withdrawal of US troops.

However, the General Staff of the Iraqi Army is said to be determined to continue diversifying Iraq's arms suppliers.
