Pentagon spokeswoman Jessica McNulty announced last Friday (18/6/21) that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has asked Commander of the US Central Command General Kenneth McKenzie to remove several air defense systems and reduce the number of US troops in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East.
The air defense systems that will be withdrawn from Saudi Arabia include Patriot batteries and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems.
