The command of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed earlier today (03/01/20) that US air strikes had killed Iranian Commander of the Quds Force Major-General Qassem Soleimani at Baghdad airport.
Several others were killed, including a senior leader of the Iran-backed Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has vowed revenge on the United States.
The IRGC is expected to respond to the killing of Soleimani. The next 48 hours are expected to witness some form of this response.
