In a step toward greater defense autonomy, Qatar signed the multilateral Badr MoU with Turkey,
Pakistan, and Indonesia on 21/10/2026.
The MoU aims to strengthen the countries’ defense industries, support joint defense projects, and potentially supply military equipment to allied and friendly countries.
For Doha, the MoU comes as recent regional conflicts have exposed vulnerabilities in its military and energy supply chains. It offers Qatar a way to reduce its reliance on Western suppliers for military equipment, ammunition, and spare parts, while securing alternative production sources to meet its defense needs during future crises and conflicts.
