Summary

The Houthis took over UAE-flagged cargo ship Rwabee off the Yemeni city of Al-Hudaydah on Sunday

(3/1/2022), while sailing in the Red Sea from Socotra to the Port of Jizan.

The incident has provided an incentive to reactivate joint naval cooperation between the GCC naval forces in the Red Sea and the coast of Aden to protect logistics transport vessels.

The UAE Navy is reported to have called for a joint rapid intervention force.
