Yemen: Houthis insist on direct talks with Saudis

UN envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths met last Thursday (27/5/21) with Yemeni Houthi rebels spokesman Mohammad Abdul Salam in Muscat. He also met yesterday (30/5/21) with Houthi rebels leader Sayyid Abdulmalik Al-Houthi in Sanaa, in North Yemen.

Griffiths had paid a three-day visit earlier last week  (24/5/21) to Riyadh, where he met with Saudi and Yemeni officials to discuss the implementation of a nationwide ceasefire in Yemen.

In this context, there is talk that it is still not clear whether the Houthis are ready to meet Saudi Arabia’s demands to reach a political solution in Yemen, as they are insisting on holding direct talks with Saudi officials.

Tactical Report has prepared a 508-word report to shed more light on this subject and on the Saudi and Houthi demands and counter-demands to reach a comprehensive ceasefire
