Qatar, Italy and armament relations: Centauro II deal?note

Since the production of the new  “Blindo Centauro II” by Leonardo-Iveco began in January (19/1/21), Commander of the Qatar Land Forces (QLF) Major-General Saeed Hussain Al-Khayarin met with his Italian counterpart General Salvatore Farina twice in the span of two weeks.

They first met at the end of January (24/1/21), during a visit by General Farina to Doha. An official statement issued by the Qatari Embassy in Italy stated that the meeting revolved around issues of common interest.

There is talk that these issues included a potential order for Centauro II vehicles.
