The seventh edition of Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2022) took place between 21-23 March, 2022. Organized by the Qatari Armed Forces and hosted at the Qatar National Convention Center, DIMDEX attracted over 200 exhibitors and 90 VIP delegations from nearly 20 countries.

DIMDEX is held every two years and focuses exclusively on the maritime domain. The organizers described DIMDEX 2022 as being a success, and noted the “good turnout and great praise from visitors and exhibitors.”

Stakeholders inked around 30 agreements during DIMDEX, including memorandums of understanding (MoU), contracts, and letters of intent (LoI). Raytheon, BAE Systems, Thales, Rheinmetall and Aselsan are some of the big names that have entered some sort of agreements with Qatari entities during DIMDEX. High level meetings were also noted between Qatari government officials and officers, and foreign diplomats or company executives. Industry majors also unveiled new, maritime-relevant defense systems, but this year’s focus fell on Turkish-made unmanned surface vessels (USVs) from Dearsan, Meteksan, Ares Shipyards.
