An Oil Ministry source says the Ministry is holding talks with Chinese companies on gas fields in southern Iraq, while Sinochem is seeking to win contracts from the state-owned Oil Exploration Co. and Iraq Drilling Co. to develop oil fields there. The source mentions on the other hand that the Ministry intends to invite industrial and construction companies to bid for projects in southern Iraq, including hospitals.
