Libya: What’s behind Haftar’s military parade?

Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar presided last week (28/5/21) over a military parade at the Benina airbase in Benghazi.

Field Marshal Haftar officially invited (26/5/21) Libyan Interim Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dabeiba and President of the Libyan Presidential Council (LPC) Mohammad Al-Menfi to attend the military parade. However, both PM Dabeiba and Al-Menfi ignored Field Marshal Haftar’s invitation.

The military parade commemorated Operation Dignity, the LNA’s 2014 military campaign that was aimed at capturing Tripoli and seizing power from the Government of National Accord (GNA).

What is the significance of the parade and how was it received?
